January Newsletter

Greetings and Happy New Year from GhostHead HQ! We hope you all enjoyed your holiday and are looking forward to some upcoming events for 2025. Here’s what’s happening this month and beyond at GhostHead.

January 4: Trail Maintenance

Need volunteer hours or just want to help maintain our trails in the Phoenix Mountains Preserve? Then join us for Trail Workday on January 4, at 7:30AM. Once again, we will be working with the City of Phoenix and the Park Ranger Trail Alliance to rake, move rock and get the trails in tip-top shape for all those upcoming training runs for your upcoming races. No experience is necessary. Bring gloves, water and sun protection.

Meet at the Dreamy Draw Trailhead. Arrive 15 minutes early (7:15am) for a Safety Briefing and Waiver Signing.

Special Announcement:

We are happy to announce that GhostHead Productions is partnering with Pine Strawberry Fuel Reduction to host the Pine Trail Run (50K, 10 miler and 5k) on May 10 and Fire on the Rim (Date TBD). Spots are available for all 3 distances on UltraSignup. Not looking to race. You can also log on to UltraSignup to sign up to volunteer.

PSFR, originally an oversight committee for fuel reduction efforts in the community, was incorporated in 2007 as a 501-c-3 nonprofit community organization. Our focus has been to become the voice of the community and to help conceive and create new projects and innovations that would move Pine and Strawberry to the forefront within the state, if not the nation, as a community coming together to make our area a safer place to live.

Pine Strawberry Fuel Reduction, Inc. is a completely volunteer, nonprofit community organization and is dependent entirely upon private donations and grants for its operation. The relative cost of funding fire prevention programs and activities is certainly small in comparison with all that we stand to lose here in the Rim Country.

Recap of December Events:

Open Forum Q&A with Megan Eckert

GhostHead Productions and Sole Sports hosted the Open Forum Q&A and group run with the reigning Backyard Ultra / Last Person Standing champ, Megan Eckert. Timing couldn’t have been any better as Megan was in town to qualify for the US 24 Hour Team at Desert Solstice, which she wound up qualifying for the team with 153.4 miles. Congrats Megan and we will keep our eyes peeled when you compete in the upcoming 24-hour event.

PUP-A-GO 5K

GhostHead partnered with Home Fur Good Animal Rescue to host our inaugural Pup-A-Go 5k event. All participants and their pups enjoyed the chill December morning around the 5k looped course followed by coffee and donuts courtesy of Better Buzz Coffee and Bosa Donuts! Congratulate to all that participated.
